If only we had Friends as Stakeholders in Procurement maybe this would look like this?
Monica: The micromanaging meticulous
She obsessively micromanages every detail of every purchase.
“It must be organic, fair-trade, & ethically sourced! & I want the invoices organized by dates, payments & colors!”
Chandler: The sarcastic cynic
He constantly complains about the procurement process & everything else.
“Oh, great, another meeting about SOW. Can’t we just buy in bulk & be done with it?
Phoebe: The free-spirited idealistic
She’s concerned with the ethical & environmental impact of purchases.
“But what about the feelings of the suppliers? They’re just tryin’ to make a livin’! give them the contract and we will figure it out”
Joey: The indifferent apathetic
He is concerned with whether the purchase will provide him with free food or not.
“So, if we buy this new equipment, does that mean free pizza & a night in Vegas?”
Rachel: The image-conscious, trend-obsessed
She requests stylish & high-quality products that reflect a certain image without having the budget.
“These strollers? They’re so… blah. We need something more… chic. Like, a Bugaboo. You know, the one with the leather handles and the reversible seat. It’s the only stroller that will truly complement my wardrobe.”
Ross: The overly analytical know-it-all
He obsessively researches every potential supplier, inundating the procurement team with irrelevant facts & figures.
“Mmmmm, now, I understand you’ve sourced these staplers from… Buyland Supplier? Did you consider the metallurgical composition of the staples? I believe a higher grade of steel, mmmm…..& perhaps with a slight titanium alloy, would offer superior… well, stapling capabilities. I can provide you with a peer-reviewed journal article on the subject.”
